The image of the city The Hague is, to a certain extent, influenced by Police Posts. Not only the presence as well as the designs of these objects can be annoying, they can also be detrimental to the streetscape. That’s the motivation for the municipality of The Hague to offer a price for the best design.
Our answer to the competition:
– situating all embassy’s in a map of the city;
– take stock of all the colours in the surroundings;
– selecting the most occurring colours.
A RGB-model appeared the natural tones to be the most occurring in the environment. Using camouflage technique and checking which colour and shape could fit in the surroundings the best was the next step. The designed object consist of concrete segments, which are easily removable, and are also applicable in different heights.
